Governor Pritzker on Friday, March 20 announced a shutdown of all non-essential businesses in the state of Illinois. Following this announcement, the State of Illinois published guidance regarding who qualifies as an “essential business”, which was much broader than the governor narrowly defined in his speech.
Based on the criterion Lyon LLC qualifies as an essential supplier to several key industries, including Health, Government, and Retail. In addition, we are considered a key supplier for Military Infrastructure for the Department of Defense. The Under Secretary of Defense, on March 20, communicated his request for all companies like ours to continue to stay open and provide products. As such, our corporate office, our factories and cross docks will all remain open.
While we continue to serve our customers, we are very aware of our responsibilities to our team members and to the community at large to prevent the spread of COVID-19. To date we have been proactive and diligent in our efforts to create a safe work environment as well as to keep our team informed on how to protect themselves and those around them. We will continue to work diligently to follow the guidelines outlined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
It will be very important during this difficult period of time that we communicate often and frankly. We will all be experiencing a rapidly changing environment and we need to be proactive in order to protect our combined interests. We will continue to operate at full capabilities at this time, and currently see no impact on our ability to provide our products and services to our valued customers.
