The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ encourages and advances global adoption of continuous green building and development practices. It does this through the creation and application of understood and accepted tools and performance standards. Lyon’s LEED Initiative is committed to operating its facilities with environmentally friendly processes.
LEED is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. This program also gives building owners and operators the tools to have a measurable impact on their buildings’ performance. LEED promotes a whole building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health. These areas are sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and also indoor environmental quality.
LYON’S LEED INITIATIVE
Lyon also commits to manufacturing products that help our architects, dealers, and distributors reach the highest level of certification. Buying domestic US steel with recycle content and building products in our centrally located manufacturing plants increases your LEED ratings. Lyon is ready to assist in your LEED certification documentation.
In addition to Lyon’s LEED Initiative, Lyon has earned UL GREENGUARD Gold Certification. GREENGUARD recognizes and references over 400 codes, rating systems, and procurement policies worldwide. The GREENGUARD Certification criteria have been the basis for the LEED credit for low emitting furniture since 2002.
The GREENGUARD Gold Standard includes health based criteria for additional chemicals and also requires lower total VOC emissions levels. This ensures that products are acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities.
Certified products are easily identified by the bright green UL badge on each product page. To obtain this certification, Lyon underwent extensive testing and as well as audits conducted by UL Environment.
